Army man among 2 dead in Rajshahi road accident

Two people, including an army soldier, were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run autorickshaw and an engine-run three-wheeler in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi last night, said police today.
The deceased were identified as Md Palash, 21, and Abdul Kuddus, 40. They hailed from Manda and Raninagar upazilas of Naogaon.
Of them, Palash was a soldier of the Bangladesh Army while Kuddus an imam of a mosque.
Mohanpur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hannan said the accident occurred around 9:30pm when the autorickshaw carrying the two collided with the three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction in the Saipara area, leaving them critically injured.
Locals rushed them to the Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared them dead upon arrival, he said.
The OC said they detained the driver of the three-wheeler.
